How to create a brown smokey eye with a red lip is a frequently asked tip for most beauty lovers and I’ll tell you why; Smokey eye is one of those eyes looks that takes you from 0 to 100 real quick especially when paired with a subtle lipstick, gloss precisely.

Usually, black smokey eye is the go-to but I fell in love with brown smokey eyes because it’s easier than the latter. In my opinion, any color of eyeshadow can make a great smokey eye. However, I love the subtle yet glam effect of the brown smokey eye. Without any further rambling, let’s get right into it.
How to create a brown smokey eye with a red lip
This is a very simple makeup look to achieve. The following tips will help you create a flawless finish.
What you need to create a brown smokey eye
Before beginning your application process, ensure to lay out the tools and products you need. This helps you to save more time. Check out this video on 5 tips to help you speed up your makeup application process.
- Eyeshadow crease brushes
Eyeshadow crease brush is a pointed or rounded tip brush that is used to apply eyeshadow to your crease. It is also called a crease blending brush. It helps in blending out the edges of your eyeshadow and to blend between different colors.
- Eyeshadow primer
Eyeshadow primers, just like face primers act as a base to prepare your eyes for eyeshadow application. It improves the skin texture of your lid before application and most importantly prevents your eyeshadow from creasing and improves the pigmentation of your eyeshadow.
- Brown matte eyeshadow
Any brown shade in an eyeshadow pallete will do.
- Brown glitters or pigment (optional)
How to apply a brown smokey eyeshadow
Knowing and using the right techniques during makeup application is one way to get a flawless finish. These few steps will help you create the perfect brown smokey eye look.
Prep and prime the eyes:

On freshly cleaned eyes, apply an eyeshadow primer on your eyelid and blend it in using your fingers till it’s properly blended. If you don’t have a primer, you can improvise using a concealer as a base. The importance of prepping your eyelid is to help the eyeshadow stay properly on your lids as well as help with the pigmentation of the eyeshadow in lame man words (to make your eyeshadow pop better). I will advise you to set your primed eye with a setting powder preferably a translucent one, this is optional but it makes the blending process of your eyeshadow easier.
Application of eyeshadow:

- Using an eyeshadow crease brush, take a light brown eyeshadow using a sweeping motion, apply it on the crease of the eyelid and blend it properly making sure there are no harsh lines.
- After that is blended, take a deeper matte brown eyeshadow using another crease brush and apply it to your lids and blend it together with the light brown color applied in the crease. Note: blend properly to ensure there are no harsh lines, and voila your simple brown smokey eye is ready.

For an extra sprinkle of glam, apply a light gold shimmer on the lid sparsely to give it some sparkle and elevate the look. You can also go ahead to line your eyes with black eyeliner and draw on some wing line. To finish up, apply some wispy false eyelashes to make the smokey eye a notch higher.
Usually, I would pair this with a subtle nude glossy lipstick but when I want to be extra, I put on a matte red lipstick giving me the hot girl next door vibe.
How to apply a red lipstick

Brown smokey eyes and red lipsticks are one of the favorite duos of makeup lovers. I mean, just watch how it took me from 0 to 100 real quick here.
The following steps will help you achieve a flawless and well defined red lip.
Products needed for a red lip
- A lip balm: for moisturizing your lips and creating a flawless base for your lipstick application.
- A lip liner: To outline the perimeters of your lip and give a nice definition to your lip.
- A red lipstick of your choice preferrable matte red lipstick
- A concealer or foundation in your shade to clean up the perimeters of your lip after your lipstick application.
Tips for applying lipstick properly
- Start by moisturizing your lips. Just like you prep your skin for your makeup application, your lips are to be prepped as well and you can do this by both exfoliating your lips prior to using a lip scrub and applying a lip balm afterward. A chapped or cracked lip will not allow your lipstick to go on smoothly.
- Use a lip liner that’s close to your skin tone to line your lips. This builds a great foundation for the lip stain you would be applying. Another option is to use the same lip liner color as your lipstick, in this context that would be using a red lip liner before applying your lipstick.
- Lastly, cleaning up the borders of your lip after the application is a great way to define your lips properly.
